For the 30th anniversary of the M3 launched in 1986, BMW launched a special edition of its M4 called GTS and was limited to 700 copies worldwide.

This BMW M4 GTS demonstrates all the know-how of BMW Motorsport.

It is a racing car approved for the road, it will achieve an approved time of 7:28 on the famous Nordschleife at the Nürbürgring, the proof by the few technical points below.

Lightness is the keyword when designing this road-approved racing car: front hood and trunk, front blade, rear spoiler, carbon fiber rear diffuser, lightened door panels, and straps instead of handles. Removal of the dual-zone automatic air conditioning which will be replaced by a simplified version, no reversing camera or heated seats: useless!

The exhaust is made of titanium, which is very light and has a bewitching and impressive sound.

The atmosphere onboard reminds motor racing with omnipresent Alcantara: steering wheel with the midpoint, central console (with the removal of the armrest), dashboard, a central part of the bucket seats.

It got the Clubsport Pack as a free option at the time which included:

A roll bar in the Acid orange color of this special edition, the harnesses, and a fire extinguisher (which is not annoying since the back seat has been removed)

Even its wheelset is specific and race-oriented with 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear, adjustable 3-way shock absorbers, adjustable spoiler, 6-piston carbon-ceramic brakes at the front, and 4 at the rear. , M CARBONE bucket seats with SCHROTH harness.

For the first time on a production vehicle, it benefits from a system already known in racing. Water injection into the intake allows amplified cooling to increase efficiency and final power to 500hp. (against 450hp on an M4 Pack competition)

 

This M4 GTS has a  French owner, it is first hand, it has never been a circuit and has never been damaged.

The paintwork is a BMW INDIVIDUAL “Frozen Dark Gray Metalic” with Acid orange accents on the front blade, rims, and roll bar.

Of the few options available in the catalog at the time, it has:

8TH Speed limit indicator (per camera)

420 heat-insulating glazing (dark-tinted rear windows)

Today it has 6,255 km certified on the odometer and passed its technical inspection (blank) on October 20th, 2020.

Completely original (the harnesses are of course available and have been removed for use on the road)

Its operating condition is just as clear as its provenance and its history: nothing to report, it is close to new and ready to the road! (or the circuit!)
